Just a quick update to share a song that makes me happy every time I hear it.
I hope that you feel the same way.

Role Models
I was reading my devotional this morning and it was related to parents being good role models for your children and the verse used was Proverbs 6:20-23
20 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
It's a very good reminder that your children watch you and use you to learn what is right and wrong or good and bad. They watch you and mimic you and you are their hero. Even if you don't think so. I have seen this personally with my 3 children and have also seen it in other families. It's an amazing thing to watch.
Also, you must remember that even if you aren't a parent that kids will look to anybody for social cues. If you are around children you need to realize that they are watching you and learning from your actions. You may not realize it but if you do something to help another person or speak truthfully and with an honest tongue then you have made a positive impact on others around you. If you cheat, lie or steal then you have destroyed your credibility and set a bad example. Little things like cutting in line, disobeying posted signs, cursing all may make you look 'cool' initially but your reputation is set and you are no longer that role model that I would want my children following.
I know I fall short and have times when I am not the person I wish I was and when I realize that I may have set a bad example for my children or others around me I feel a pain in my heart. I don't like feeling that way and continually strive to always be aware of the example I am setting for others as a Christian, father, husband, etc.
